52,000 new codes for new Greek products and 415 new businesses in 2016



ATHENS, January 26, 2017 – Over 52,000 new barcodes Greek products created through the new platform / service my520.gr by 520 Barcode Hellas in 2016. Number double that of 2015, an increase that reflects the excellent acceptance of the new service and its benefits.

In addition and despite the unfavorable economic environment and the difficulties that Greek entrepreneurship still faces, 415 were the new companies, who signed up to 520 Barcode Hellas and got codes prefixed with 520, a number 8.1% lower than those of 2015. The fall is reasonable and expected as it reflects that of entrepreneurship in Greece.

It is worth noting that out of all the new business-clients of 520 Barcode Greece the 63% are manufacturing and standardizing companies. The figures for 2016 give a moderately optimistic tone for the future of the Greek economy and entrepreneurship mainly due to the resilience shown by Greek businesses in the conditions that have been created.

In particular, the industry Food and Beverages, maintains its high rates by touching it 63%. Businesses production, standardization and marketing of olive oil managed to stabilize at 12,60%, as well as its branches Winemaking and Brewing, who retained their stake in 10,31%.

More generally in the sectors of activity there are no notable rearrangements and the above sectors follow Cosmetics, Hygiene Products, Parapharmaceuticals, Clothing, Household Products, General Trade, and Detergents.

Of particular interest is increase in registration and creation of new codes at my520.gr with food codes maintaining the largest percentage followed by clothing and footwear.

To date, all barcode registered on the new platform my520.gr surpasses them 220,000 codes making it a useful and reliable tool for the business, buyer and consumer.
