33,500 new Greek product codes and 230 new businesses in the first half of 2017



ATHENS, July 10, 2017 – More than 33,500 new barcodes Greek products created through the platform / service my520.gr by 520 Barcode Hellas within the first half of 2017. Increased is the number of codes by 40% (9,500 codes), which reflects on the one hand the wide utilization of the advantages of the service and on the other hand, the effort of businesses to diversify their product mix and produce new products in an effort to claim a larger market share.

In addition and despite the unfavorable economic environment and the difficulties that Greek entrepreneurship still faces, 230 were the new companies, who enrolled in 520 Barcode Hellas and obtained codes with a prefix of 520, number marginally increased – 0.45 % - compared to the corresponding period in 2016. It is worth noting that, despite the fact that the number of new businesses remained stable, we had a significant increase (40%) of new codes on the my520 platform.

It is also important that out of all the new business-clients of 520 Barcode Hellas the 67% are manufacturing and standardizing companies. The figures for 2017 set an optimistic tone for the future of Greek production & standardization, as the percentage of productive companies is, in the first half of 2017, 4% higher than in the first half of 2016.

In particular, we observe a small increase in already a high percentage of the Food and Beverage manufacturing & standardization industry, which reaches 68%, with the olive oil and wine/beer businesses to take the lead.

We observe a similar trend in the new codes registered at my520.gr with food maintaining the largest share followed by apparel, home decor, toys, body care and apparel.

To date, the total of barcode registered on the platform my520.gr surpasses them 250.000 codes making it an efficient and reliable tool for the business, the buyer and the consumer.
