ATHENS, December 17, 2018
62,000 new barcodes for Greek products were created during 2018 through the platform my520.gr. The new codes show a 10% increase compared to 2017.
Of all the new codes registered in 2018, 46% were codes for food &
beverage products, with
olive oil and wine maintaining the top positions.
These were followed by
clothing & footwear at 15% and household
equipment at 12%.
Of the businesses that obtained codes from 520 Barcode Hellas during the year, 65% were production and standardization businesses, a fact that gives a cautiously optimistic outlook for the future of the Greek economy and entrepreneurship.
In terms of the “geography” of Greek entrepreneurship, the largest share of new companies in 2018, as well as the corresponding new codes, came from Attica 32%, followed by Macedonia 21%, Crete 13% and the Peloponnese 9%, while Central Greece and Thessaly stood at 6%.
Overall, more than 335,000 codes are now registered on the my520.gr platform. We remind you that the my520.gr platform is provided free of charge to the subscribers of 520 Barcode Hellas , as part of its initiatives to effectively support and promote Greek businesses that remain resilient in an unfavorable economic environment.
The my520.gr platform confirms its role — for yet another year — as a valuable tool for reliable and simple product code management.
